Join us for a hands on, full day immersive with Alan Stonewolf and Jaime Allen Poyant of Sonic Field!
The Drum and Rattle are a part of native heritage from tribal cultures all over the world.
In this workshop you will be supplied everything you need to create your own frame drum and accompanying beater, or rattle. While you are making your creations Alan and Jaime will teach you the care of your drum or rattle as well as how to use them in healing and cleansing ceremonies!
We will begin the day with a brief Sound Journey to connect to the Heartbeat of the Drum and Rattle, and then start the process of creating.
The day will conclude with you having created a heart built sacred instrument which you will be able to enjoy and share for many years to come.
Cost & Materials:
Build a Drum:
$250 includes 16” : diameter Elk, Deer or Horse and Maple drum with a fringed drum beater.
$270 includes 18" : diameter Elk, Deer or Horse and Maple drum with a fringed drum beater.
$290 includes 20” : diameter Elk, Deer or Horse and Maple drum with a fringed drum beater.
To Build a Rattle:
$180 includes: Elk hide for rattle head, rattle fill, suede/leather for handle, stitching and stick handle
All other materials will be provided and are included in the price of the workshop.
*If you have some special beads or feathers which you’d like to decorate your drum or rattle you may also bring them.
Please dress comfortably and arrive at least 5-10 minutes early in order to get settled.
Make sure to bring a packed lunch. Also close by is Costal Roasters Cafe (walking distance a few doors down) and Black Goose Cafe 5 mintute drive down the road!
